Olivier Cresp
Olivier Cresp is a formative figure in the world of perfumery. He was born in 1955 in Grasse, the historical and geographical heart of perfumery. His early childhood in Grasse, the “perfume capital of the world”, had a lasting impact on his professional career. He grew up in a family deeply rooted in the perfume industry, which gave him direct access to a variety of fragrances from an early age. These early experiences with natural ingredients shaped his sensory sensitivity and understanding of fragrance.
Cresp began his career as a perfumer in 1975 and joined the renowned fragrance company Firmenich in 1992. There he worked on numerous successful perfumes and was appointed Master Perfumer in 2006. Some of his best-known works include the iconic Angel by Thierry Mugler and Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana. Angel in particular was groundbreaking and led to the creation of the gourmand fragrance category in perfumery.
In 2012, he was awarded the title Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, a recognition of his cultural contributions by the French Minister of Culture. His career was further crowned by the Fragrance Foundation's Lifetime Achievement Award, which he received for his life's work in the perfume industry.
Cresp is known for his minimalist style, based on the use of a limited number of high-quality ingredients to create clear and direct fragrances. This approach has helped him to create some of the most timeless and successful fragrances that continue to be popular worldwide.
