The delusions are annoying and the few hours of sleep he is allowed between jobs are no better; dominated by visits from old sailors and supernatural figures from worlds past. It is only when he begins to hear these apparitions that he is really thrown off balance. In a desperate search for the true identities of these lost souls, Azzam discovers something much more remarkable, his own.

Natural Cambodian oud, also known as agarwood, comes from the Aquilaria trees found in the forests of Cambodia and other countries in Southeast Asia. Oud is formed when the tree reacts to an infection with a certain fungus, producing the resin as a defense mechanism. This resin permeates the wood and gives it the unique, intensely aromatic and complex scent that oud is known for. This oud is particularly prized for its rich, deep and multi-layered scent, which is often described as warm, woody and balsamic with nuances of smoke, leather, and sometimes even a slight sweetness.

Each piece of oud wood, and therefore each oud oil, has its own distinctive character, which is influenced by factors such as the age of the tree, the specific type of fungal infection and the environmental conditions under which the tree was grown. In perfumery, Cambodian oud is highly prized and often used in niche or luxury fragrances as a heart or base note. Due to its rarity and the laborious extraction process, natural oud is a very precious commodity, which makes fragrances containing genuine Cambodian oud very special.
