Behind the Fragrance
Parfums de Marly - PERCIVAL - Eau de Parfum
PERCIVAL - a royal fragrance. PERCIVAL is a modern and noble fragrance whose name evokes the mythical stallions of the Haras de France. It is subtly balanced with citrus and aromatic notes on a woody base. This latest creation from Parfums de Marly is a fresh, sensual and refined fragrance that will be remembered for a long time to come. PERCIVAL's signature: The top notes include notes of bergamot and mandarin, enhanced by aromatic nuances to create a unique combination. The heart notes, which give PERCIVAL character and depth, are a blend of natural jasmine, violet and geranium. This trio is joined by lavender, coriander and cinnamon. On the skin, moscus blends with pepper and pine balm. To add to these notes, woodsy spices are revealed in the base.
The selection of fragrances includes unique molecules from the Maison Firmenich, such as Clearwood, a new tool in the perfumer's toolbox that allows them to use new methods. They will be able to work more effectively with the woody character of patschuli, with hedione, so characteristic of the olfactory signature of Parfums de Marly, and with ambrox, which gives PERCIVAL exceptional strength and a unique texture. Clearwood® is an innovative Firmenich fragrance derived from white biotechnology. It offers a softer and cleaner version of the patchouli profile, without the earthy and leaden aspects often found in natural patchouli oil. Clearwood® has warm, creamy amber notes and a dark, woody character reminiscent of patchouli. These properties make it a versatile and sustainable ingredient in modern perfumery, which is why it has been recognised as a sustainable ingredient.
Ambroxan, a synthetic fragrance, is known for its bernstein, sweet, woody and mossy olfactory profile. Originally developed as a replacement for ambergris, ambroxan is derived from sclareol, a natural compound found in muscatel salbei. It is valued for its longevity and ability to enhance the presence and persistence of other notes in a fragrance. Ambroxan imparts depth and warmth and often lends a silky, smooth or even slightly salty and skin-like quality to fragrances.
