Behind the Fragrance

Andy Tauer - GOLESTAN - Extrait de Parfum

The GOLESTAN fragrance by Andy Tauer Perfumes is inspired by Persian gardens, in particular the Golestan Palace in Tehran, which is also reflected in the composition of the perfume. The fragrance conveys an atmosphere of lush gardens full of blooming flowers and spicy aromas reminiscent of oriental gardens.

Rose: A dominant note typical of Tauer , appearing here as a rich, opulent and natural interpretation of blossom. Spices: Various oriental spices that give the fragrance a deep warmth and sensuality. Woody notes: These bring earthiness and depth to the composition, rounding off the fragrance and giving it more structure. Fresh green notes: These are reminiscent of the lush vegetation in Persian gardens and add a certain lightness to the fragrance. Overall, GOLESTAN is both floral and spicy-woody with a classic oriental signature. The rose takes centre stage, but the spicy and woody accents make the fragrance multi-layered and complex.

The GOLESTAN Palace, also known as the ‘Rose Garden Palace’ (Persian: کاخ گلستان, Kākh-e Golestān), is located in the historic centre of Tehran and is one of the oldest monuments in the city. It is a magnificent example of Persian architecture, rich in art, mosaics and beautiful gardens. Here are some of the most remarkable features that make the palace so special: Architecture and design: the GOLESTAN palace complex encompasses a mixture of Persian, European and Russian influences, which makes it unique among Tehran's historical buildings. Magnificent mirror work: The GOLESTAN  Palace is known for its fine ayeneh-kari, or intricate mirror work, which can be found in many of its halls and reception rooms. These reflect the light and create an impressive, sparkling atmosphere. Colourful tile art: the walls and facades are decorated with elaborately designed ceramic tiles depicting traditional Persian patterns and scenes from Iran's history. The famous Shams-ol-Emareh (Sun Tower) is one of the palace's most magnificent buildings and features many of these details. The GOLESTAN Palace is surrounded by lush gardens, which bear the name ‘Golestan ’ (rose garden). These gardens symbolise the traditional Persian idea of paradise, with fountains, watercourses and well-tended plants.

The rose garden, after which the GOLESTAN Palace was named, is a central element. The gardens are inspired by classical Persian landscape design, in which water and plants play a central role. UNESCO World Heritage Site: The palace has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013, as it is recognised as an example of outstanding Persian architecture and garden design.
