Behind the Fragrance
Xerjoff - ALEXANDRIA ORIENTALE - OUD STARS - Eau de Parfum
Originally crafted exclusively for the United Arab Emirates, ALEXANDRIA ORIENTALE by XERJOFF stands as an Arabian treasure, paying homage to one of the most intricate and captivating ingredients – oud. The oriental essence of this distinctive fragrance unfolds with top notes of green apple, spicy basil and warm incense from Oman. These refreshing and spicy notes compose an invigorating prelude, capturing the senses and commencing the journey into the oriental realm. A lush and profound heart of Italian iris, sensual Bulgarian rose and aromatic coriander introduces a floral and sensual dimension, further enriching the complexity of the fragrance. The olfactory journey transitions to a warm, earthy base of Indian sandalwood, tobacco leaves and oud. Serving as the foundation of the fragrance, the base notes ensure a enduring presence on the skin.
Here, warm amber, soothing Indian sandalwood, sensual musk, smoky tobacco leaves, sweet vanilla from Madagascar and a blend of Malaysian ouds merge into a sensual and opulent composition. These opulent and deep notes impart an irresistible depth and a sense of luxury to the fragrance. Now available worldwide, XERJOFF´s ALEXANDRIA ORIENTALE extends its enchanting aura to perfume enthusiasts globally, inviting them to be captivated by the unique allure of this fragrance.
XERJOFF - the OUD STARS collection
The OUD STARS fragrance line pays homage to the rich tradition of Arabian perfumery. Its creation is based on the exquisite distillation processes that produce pure oud from plantations in Laos, Cambodia and Borneo. This XERJOFF collection has been developed with great care and a deep dedication to Arabian perfumery. The extensive research behind the Oud Stars aims to create a special collection that combines the traditions of Arabian perfumery with the luxurious and creative style of Xerjoff.
The names of these XERJOFF fragrances are partly inspired by the ancient work "The Travels of Ibn Battuta", written in 1325 AD. Ibn Battuta, also known as the Marco Polo of the Arab world, described the life and culture of many North African and Arab cities in his work, leaving an important written record of the era.
Names such as Alexandria, Zafar, Al-Khatt, Mamluk, Gao and Fars are borrowed from historical city names that served as a source of inspiration for the fragrances. Ceylon and Malaysia also represent historical places that are closely associated with oud. Each fragrance in the Oud Stars collection thus tells a story inspired by the rich past and fascinating cultures of the Middle East.
Oud, also known as agarwood or eaglewood, is one of the most precious and sought-after ingredients in the world of perfumery and is widely used in the fragrances in XERJOFF's OUD STARS collection. It is an aromatic resin extracted from the core of the Aquilaria tree, which is mainly native to Southeast Asia, including countries such as Laos, Cambodia and Borneo. The formation of oud is a result of a natural defence reaction of the Aquilaria tree against certain types of fungal infections. When the tree is infected, it produces a resin that penetrates the wood and hardens over time. This process can take decades and leads to the formation of the characteristic dark and fragrant agarwood.
