Behind the Fragrance
Xerjoff Shooting Stars KOBE Eau de Parfum
XERJOFF KOBE's essence is defined by a harmonious interplay of citrus notes sourced from diverse corners of the globe. A luminously refreshing introduction unfolds with the captivating neroli from southern Italy, harmonized with petitgrain from Paraguay, bergamot from Calabria and oranges from Florida. This exquisite blend establishes a refreshing and verdant ambiance with discernible astringent undertones. What sets KOBE apart is the distinctive fusion of its heart notes, featuring exotic rosewood and balsamic resins. The uniqueness of this composition is further accentuated by agarwood, supported by rosewood, tonka and amber in the base. Together, these elements coalesce into a coherent and genuinely elegant essence. Palisanderwood, also known as rosewood, imparts a distinct fragrance characterized by warmth, woody richness, sweetness and subtle floral undertones. Often exuding a pleasant and calming scent with nuanced hints of rose and spice, the aroma may evolve with the age of the wood, attaining a deeper, more intricate character over time.
Styrax, a resinous substance derived primarily from the Styrax benzoin tree, contributes to KOBE's allure. Widely employed in perfumery and aromatherapy, styrax emanates a warm, sweet and balsamic scent, accompanied by subtle smoky, woody and vanilla notes. Petitgrain, extracted from the leaves and young shoots of bitter orange trees, rounds out the fragrance profile. Its fresh, green, citrusy and slightly tart aroma bears a resemblance to neroli and bergamot, as all three originate from different parts of the bitter orange plant. However, petitgrain possesses its own unique character, enriching KOBE's olfactory tapestry.
In 1947, an impressive meteor shower occurred in the vastness of Eastern Siberia, away from the majestic foothills of the Sikhote-Alin Mountains. On the morning of 12 February 1947, a large meteorite exploded in the Earth's atmosphere and broke up into numerous fragments, which rained down over an extensive area in the Primorye region. This cosmic event, which has always fascinated people, served as the inspiration for the extraordinary "SHOOTING STARS" collection from XERJOFF. Every single fragrance in this exquisite collection has been carefully selected to reflect the unique magic of this cosmic spectacle. The Sikhote-Alin meteorite was one of the largest observed meteorite falls in history. The meteorite entered the Earth's atmosphere at a speed of about 14 km/s and broke up at an altitude of about 23 km. The largest fragmentation occurred at an altitude of 5.6 kilometres. The total mass of the meteorite is estimated at about 70 tonnes, and the largest mass found weighed about 1,745 kg. The impact created numerous craters, the largest of which had a diameter of around 26 metres.
In a loving gesture of connection between heaven and earth, each gift box in XERJOFF's SHOOTING STARS collection comes with a genuine, certified meteorite fragment from that historic event. This authentic piece of the heavens is included with the XERJOFF perfume itself, not only to offer the wearer an olfactory delight, but also to convey a pinch of cosmic energy and happiness. Each bottle in the SHOOTING STARS collection by XERJOFF is a precious talisman that captures the uniqueness of the moment and the beauty of the universe. It gives the wearer a feeling of connection with the infinite expanse of the cosmos.
