Behind the Fragrance
Xerjoff Shooting Stars NIO Eau de Parfum
Xerjoff's NIO fragrance embarks on a revitalizing journey through the lush green landscapes of southern Italy. At its core lies the essence of Hesperid bergamot from Calabria and the invigorating, unopened citrus buds. NIO undergoes a striking modern interpretation, enveloping itself in a lively, green and effervescent atmosphere. An intense citrus accord, marked by astringency, intertwines with spicy notes of cardamom, nutmeg and rose pepper, accentuating the fragrance's warm facets. This distinctive blend harmoniously converges with a dry, woody foundation comprised of cedar and guaiac wood, Haitian vetiver and Indian patchouli. The outcome is a timeless composition that stirs romantic recollections and provides a uniquely enchanting olfactory experience. Vetiver, a perennial grass cultivated in diverse regions like India, Indonesia, Haiti and Réunion, is renowned for its aromatic roots from which vetiver essential oil is derived. The scent of vetiver oil is earthy, woody and subtly smoky, with nuanced hints of sweetness and bitterness. Frequently employed as a base note in perfumery, vetiver adds a profound, warm and earthy dimension to fragrances, contributing to NIO's enduring allure.
In 1947, an impressive meteor shower occurred in the vastness of Eastern Siberia, away from the majestic foothills of the Sikhote-Alin Mountains. On the morning of 12 February 1947, a large meteorite exploded in the Earth's atmosphere and broke up into numerous fragments, which rained down over an extensive area in the Primorye region. This cosmic event, which has always fascinated people, served as the inspiration for the extraordinary "SHOOTING STARS" collection from XERJOFF. Every single fragrance in this exquisite collection has been carefully selected to reflect the unique magic of this cosmic spectacle. The Sikhote-Alin meteorite was one of the largest observed meteorite falls in history. The meteorite entered the Earth's atmosphere at a speed of about 14 km/s and broke up at an altitude of about 23 km. The largest fragmentation occurred at an altitude of 5.6 kilometres. The total mass of the meteorite is estimated at about 70 tonnes, and the largest mass found weighed about 1,745 kg. The impact created numerous craters, the largest of which had a diameter of around 26 metres.
In a loving gesture of connection between heaven and earth, each gift box in XERJOFF's SHOOTING STARS collection comes with a genuine, certified meteorite fragment from that historic event. This authentic piece of the heavens is included with the XERJOFF perfume itself, not only to offer the wearer an olfactory delight, but also to convey a pinch of cosmic energy and happiness. Each bottle in the SHOOTING STARS collection by XERJOFF is a precious talisman that captures the uniqueness of the moment and the beauty of the universe. It gives the wearer a feeling of connection with the infinite expanse of the cosmos.
