The name SOPRANO comes from the Italian word "sopra", which means "above" or "above", as the soprano is the highest attainable pitch of a human voice in classical opera. Xerjoff's SOPRANO takes the traditional art of fragrance composition into a new dimension. The unusually rich and fruity accords of SOPRANO merge mysteriously with the white notes of milk and jasmine, freesia and oriental lychee fruit, all wrapped in a charismatic bouquet of rose and osmanthus. The lychee fruit, also known as lychee, is an exotic fruit that originates from China but is also grown in other tropical and subtropical regions such as India, Thailand and South Africa. It has a red, prickly skin and a juicy, white flesh that has a sweet and refreshing flavour. In perfumery, the aroma of the lychee fruit is often used to create fruity fragrance compositions. Oud essences, also known as agarwood essences, are highly prized and luxurious fragrances extracted from the resin of the agar tree (Aquilaria). Agarwood is produced when the tree develops a kind of defence mechanism due to certain circumstances, such as a fungal infection, and produces an aromatic resin. This resin permeates the wood of the tree and gives it a characteristic, rich scent known as oud. Oud essences can be extracted in various ways, but the most traditional method is to distil the resin. The resulting oud oil or essence is dark in colour and has a complex, earthy, woody and often animalic scent that is considered very appealing and intriguing.
