PRECISION & CREATIVITY
Bertrand Duchaufour, whose career in the world of perfumery began in Grasse, France in 1985, has developed over the years into one of the most renowned perfumers. He spent his apprenticeship years at well-known companies such as Florasynth and Symrise, where he not only learned the art of perfumery from leading masters, but also developed a unique, personal approach to this craft. In 2007, Bertrand took the step into self-employment and quickly established himself as a sought-after perfumer. He works closely with L'Artisan Parfumeur, for whom he works as an in-house perfumer, and also maintains collaborations with a variety of niche brands. Bertrand Duchaufour is not only distinguished by his skills as a perfumer, but also by his passion for art and culture. As a world traveler and avid collector of local art, he constantly draws new inspiration from the diverse impressions he collects on his travels. This openness to new experiences is also reflected in the way he approaches perfumery. Duchaufour describes his evolution as a perfumer as a path that led him from a specific methodology prevalent in the industrial environment to a more individual and independent style. By setting up his laboratory and working on his own perfume creations, he has developed a deeper relationship with the raw materials, which allows him to design his fragrances with even greater precision and creativity. Among the many prestigious creations of Bertrand Duchaufour are perfumes such as "Kyoto", "Avignon" and "Sequoia" by Comme des Garcons, "Timbuktu" and "Dzongkha" by L'Artisan Parfumeur, "Sartorial" and "Amaranthine" by Penhaligon, and "Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta", to name just a few. These works testify to his extraordinary talent for expressing complex emotions and stories through the language of scents.
