Behind the Fragrance
Olfactive Studio - Sepia Kollektion - SMOKY SOUL - Extrait de Parfum
The Sepia collection from Olfactive Studio presents SMOKY SOUL, an inspiring and sensual fragrance that captures the atmosphere of a smoky black tea, enriched with the enchanting scent of Osmanthus blossom, which adds fruity, apricot-like nuances. The black tea extracted with supercritical CO2 reveals deep, smoky facets that are enhanced by the addition of Java vetiver, which brings out warm, smoky wood notes.
CO2 extraction is a modern method of extracting fragrances from plant material, used primarily in perfumery and aromatherapy. This method uses carbon dioxide in an overcritical state, i.e. the CO2 is in a state between gaseous and liquid at a certain temperature and under high pressure. In this overcritical state, CO2 has both gas-like and liquid-like properties, making it a very efficient solvent. The addition of black pepper enhances the tea's spicy and dark nuances. A hint of algae absolute subtly enhances the salty and mineral moosy notes characteristic of certain Chinese teas.
The Olfactive Studio's SMOKY SOUL fragrance was created by perfumer Marc-Antoine Corticchiato. He is a well-known perfumer and the founder of Parfum d'Empire, which he created in 2002. Corticchiato grew up between his parents' citrus plantations in Morocco and the macchia of Corsika, where his family comes from. His interest in fragrances was strongly influenced by the variety and quality of the natural raw materials with which he grew up.
