Behind the Fragrance
Ostens – Impression Rose Oil Isparta
The first impression of Rose Oil Isparta from Ostens extraordinary fragrance collection is somewhat surprising. Bold and neither clearly feminine nor masculine. It's a lush, addictive floral scent, full of ripe, sweet currants and crushed Turkish rose petals, refreshed with a twist of pink pepper.
This fascinating, intense and almost oriental interpretation of the rose immediately has a warm and enveloping effect. Impression Rose Oil Isparta was immediately appreciated by fragrance lovers and quickly became a cult favorite.
A rose is a rose, or so we thought, until we smelled the unique scent.
Impression Rose Oil Isparta was created by perfumer Dominique Ropion.
Dominique is considered by his colleagues to be a great talent, if not the best perfumer of today, but he freely admits that there is nothing particularly remarkable about his career and that perfumery was by no means his calling: "It took a long time to come I realized that I was going to be a perfumer. It took me a long time to realize that I wanted to be a perfumer. Back then, perfumers were on a pedestal, so I never thought about it." It was only by chance that he became a master perfumer, as another student dropped out of perfumery school and was offered the job.
Before accepting the job, he asked to meet some perfumers to get an idea of the profession. He spoke with Jean Amic, Jean Louis Sieuzac and Pierre Bourdon. “It usually takes me months to decide, but I said to myself: Why not?“ I moved to Grasse for three years and then returned to Paris to finish my training.
Funny, I never thought about becoming a perfumer. Although I have always loved smells.
Dominique Ropion experienced his own scent theory as a journey: “I always smelled everything. But I never associated this pleasure with the possibility of composing my own scents, but I have always loved art, so why not compose with scents instead of sounds or something else?“
