hima jomo
HIMA JOMO is a French natural perfume house that draws its inspiration from the beauty and diversity of the ecosystem of the Himalayan region. The idea for HIMA JOMO was born during the pandemic, a time when humanity collectively experienced a long period of isolation. This experience intensified the alienation between city dwellers and nature and awakened a deeper longing to reconnect with the natural world.
HIMA JOMO therefore invites you on a journey into the unspoilt wilderness of the Himalayas. This journey allows everyone to return to the sources of life and primal well-being by exploring the olfactory diversity of this sublime land.
The Himalayas is one of the most impressive mountain regions in the world, known for its extraordinary altitude, diversity and natural beauty. It stretches across several countries, including India, Nepal, Bhutan, China and Pakistan, and is home to the highest peak on earth, Mount Everest. The Himalayas are not only a geographical wonder, but also a source of numerous rivers that supply water to millions of people. The region is rich in biodiversity, with numerous endemic plant and animal species, including the endangered snow leopard. The Himalayas also play a central role in the cultural and spiritual world of Asia and are home to many important religious sites and traditions.
The background to the name HIMA JOMO
HIMA stands for the sacred place of snow and the source of life for half of the world's population. JOMO symbolises the goddess who watches over the majestic, snow-covered mountains and embodies the joy of not missing anything.
This profound philosophy is at the heart of the HIMA JOMO brand. It encourages people in modern society to detach themselves from external influences in order to find inner contentment and fulfilment. This philosophy of life reflects the way of life of the nomads in the Himalayas, who find peace and happiness in their seclusion from the hectic world.
Their simple life, limited to the essentials, shows that true happiness does not lie in abundance, but in the joy of simple things.
The HIMALAYA, the lifeline for half the world's population
The Himalayas are the source of six of Asia's largest rivers, including the Yangtze, the Yellow River, the Indus, the Ganges, the Yarlung Tsangpo and the Mekong. These rivers are vital for billions of people who depend on agriculture in the vast Himalayan basin.
The Himalayas are often referred to as the cradle of Asian civilisations, as they have played a central role in the formation and development of many civilisations and religions in Asia for thousands of years. The majestic mountains have not only created natural boundaries, but also spiritual and cultural links between the peoples of the region.
The Himalayas are home to important religious traditions such as Hinduism and Buddhism, with numerous sacred sites and monasteries attracting pilgrims from all over the world. The cultures of India, Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan have developed in this region, strongly influenced by its harsh nature and deeply rooted spiritual beliefs.
The legends, myths and rituals associated with the Himalayas still shape the cultural heritage of these countries today and make it a spiritual centre of Asia.
The Himalayas, home to an infinite number of animal and plant species
The Himalayas are a unique ecosystem and home to an astonishing variety of animal species, many of which are endemic and not found in other parts of the world. The rugged, diverse landscapes, ranging from dense forests to snow-capped peaks, provide habitat for a wide range of wildlife.
Among the most famous inhabitants of the Himalayas is the snow leopard, a shy and endangered species of big cat that lives in the high, rocky regions of the mountain range. Equally important is the Himalayan bear, also known as the Asiatic black bear, which is native to the dense forests of the region.
The Himalayan region is also home to the red panda, a smaller, lesser-known species known for its characteristic reddish fur and distinctive face. There are also several species of wild goats and sheep, such as the Blue Sheep (also known as Bharal) and the Himalayan Tahr, which live in the steep mountainous landscapes.
Bird species such as the majestic Himalayan monal pheasant, the national bird of Nepal, and the rare black-necked crane are also found in this region. The Himalayas are therefore an important refuge for many rare and endangered species and play a crucial role in global species conservation.
The Himalayas - source of many of the finest perfume ingredients
The Himalayas are an important source of many of the finest perfume ingredients that are highly prized in the world of perfumery. The rich and unspoilt nature of this region offers a wealth of botanical treasures known for their intense and distinctive aromas.
The precious raw materials from the Himalayas include sandalwood, whose warm, woody aroma plays a central role in many perfumes. The rare and sought-after Himalayan saffron is also used in exclusive perfume compositions due to its deep, spicy fragrance.
The Himalayas are also home to plants such as rhododendron and various types of cedarwood, whose essential oils bring unique, earthy and fresh notes to perfumes. The region also supplies resins and balsams, which serve as fixatives and extend the shelf life of fragrances.
These natural raw materials from the Himalayas are coveted not only for their fragrance profiles, but also for their purity and sustainable cultivation methods, which are often in harmony with the traditional practices of local communities.

BARNABÉ FILLION is the perfumer of the fragrance TCHAI by HIMA JOMO
Barnabé Fillion is a French perfumer. He was trained in the art of perfumery and discovered his passion for blending fragrances and flavours. For over a decade, Barnabé has been researching and composing fragrances using traditional, artisanal methods. His creation for HIMA JOMO uses natural botanical ingredients and is inspired by his numerous trips to the Himalayas.
Barnabé Fillion is a French perfumer known for his unconventional approach to the art of perfumery. He originally studied photography and worked as a photographer before becoming fascinated by the world of fragrances. This love of photography still influences his work as a perfumer today, as he often interprets fragrances visually and combines them with textures and colours.
Fillion did not undergo formal training in perfumery, but learnt by working closely with mentors such as Christine Nagel, the perfumer at Hermès. This experience allowed him to develop a unique perspective on fragrance creation that is strongly influenced by his synaesthesia - a neurological predisposition in which his senses overlap and he associates scents with colours and textures.
Fillion is best known for his work for Aesop, where he created some of the company's most popular fragrances as in-house perfumer, including ‘Marrakech’ and ‘Hwyl’. He has also designed fragrances for Le Labo and other niche brands and regularly works on projects that combine art, music and perfumery. In 2020, he founded his own brand, Arpa Studios, described as an ‘institute of synaesthesia’, merging different art forms to create new olfactory experiences
CAP
The cap is inspired by black clay - a material that has been used for thousands of years in the everyday life of highland nomads. It is topped with the brand's monogram.
The brand's monogram consists of the initials ‘h’ and ‘j’, which represent the forces of nature in the form of a spike and a root from heaven and earth.
LOGO
The alignment of the texts on the bottle, vertical, like the original logo of the house, is inspired by the sacred texts - the mantras.
