Fabrice Pellegrin
Fabrice Pellegrin's roots go deep into the perfume tradition of the town of Grasse in the south of France. His father, a perfumer, his grandmother, a jasmine picker, and his grandfather, a supplier of flowers to the perfume industry, have given him an incomparable connection to this place and its unique know-how, which has made Grasse the epicenter of perfumery for centuries. His passion for patchouli, to which he has dedicated himself, has enabled him to enrich niche brands in particular in recent years and was awarded the prestigious French Fifi award in 2013.
He currently works as a perfumer at Firmenich and heads the development department for natural ingredients in Grasse. His work includes fragrances such as “Volutes” by Diptyque, “London Blackberry & Bay” for Jo Malone, “Bucoliques de Provence” for L'Artisan Parfumeur and “Calèche Eau Délicate” for Hermès.
Fabrice Pellegrin carries the spirit of Grasse within him. His attachment to this region is deeply rooted, shaped by memories of olive groves, cypress trees, sun-drenched landscapes and the song of cicadas. He cherishes the time he has spent with the older generations, who guard their valuable knowledge with reserve, but are willing to pass it on when the time is right.
Fabrice Pellegrin received his training by working closely with experienced experts, studying every step from the cultivation to the processing of raw materials for perfumes. In addition to his work as a creative perfumer, he plays a key role in the development of natural products at Firmenich and has been commuting between Paris and the research laboratories in Grasse for 15 years.
A generous and serious perfumer, Fabrice enjoys sharing his knowledge with students at local schools and is determined to pass on his legacy from generation to generation. His eldest son is already following in his footsteps. For Fabrice, it is an honor when others emulate his work and he firmly believes in the importance of knowledge transfer and open exchange to continuously reshape perfumery and set trends.
Humility and perseverance are essential qualities for Fabrice in his profession. The engraving “Carpe Diem” on the back of his watch always reminds him to make the best of every situation and make the most of his time.
