Francis Kurkdijan

Francis Kurkdjian founded his eponymous fragrance house in 2009. He sold Parfums Kurkdjian to the LVMH Group in 2017. In addition, the perfumer and creator has worked at Takasago since 2005 and has created numerous successful fragrances.

Takasago is one of the leading companies in the flavor and fragrance industry worldwide. Founded in Japan in 1920, Takasago International Corporation has grown into a global player with research, development, production and sales facilities in over 24 countries. Takasago specializes in the production of flavors and fragrances used in a wide range of products, from perfumes and cosmetics to food and beverages, household products and pharmaceuticals.

Francis Kurkdjian also passes on his knowledge to the company's young perfumers, as good and comprehensive training is very important to him.

The perfume collection of his own collection with the name: Maison Francis Kurkdjian presents itself like a scented wardrobe that accompanies us at every turn, revealing its many facets. The House was founded to meet the high standards of traditional French perfumery while celebrating a modern vision of fragrance creation and wearing.

The exceptional profile of Maison Francis Kurkdjian is nourished by the creative force of a man with a taste for the finer things in life. Francis Kurkdjian, one of the most famous contemporary perfumers, is the creator of a universe characterized by sensual and intuitive perfectionism.

The House of Maison Francis Kurkdjian follows extremely appealing and precise codes: purity, sophistication, timelessness and the audacity of a reinvented classicism. The combination of exceptional skills bears fruit and leads to unique sensory adventures in which the perfume plays the leading role.

Francis Kurkdjian composed his first perfume at the tender age of 24: “Le Male” for Jean Paul Gaultier, which became an international success with the public and was considered a “game changer” of its time. However, instead of being satisfied with this promising start to his career, the visionary creator decided to push the boundaries of the fragrance world and give perfume creation a new artistic dimension.

In 2001, this visionary artist, bucking the general trend of mass distribution of perfumes, founded his own studio for bespoke fragrances. At the same time, he continued to put his mastery and intuitive sensibility at the service of the most important fashion designers such as Rick Owens, Hedi Slimane, Riccardo Tisci, Alber Elbaz and John Galliano, as well as the world's most prestigious brands such as Dior, Guerlain and Saint-Laurent.

From 2003, Kurkdjian was commissioned by artists such as Sophie Calle, Christian Rizzo and Sarkis to create his first fragrance compositions. These encounters served as inspiration for his aesthetic sensibility and helped him to expand the boundaries of disciplines and sensory experiences.

Through his exceptional fragrance installations and master classes, both in France and around the world, he fulfills dreams in the most magnificent places and prestigious art institutions: Grand Palais, Fondation Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent, Villa Médicis, Palace of Versailles, Cité de la Céramique, French Embassy in New York, Spedale degli Innocenti in Florence, World Expo in Shanghai, Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan.
