The inspiration for Alid comes from the mysterious landscape of the Alid volcano in the endless expanse of the Danakil Depression in Eritrea. A place where powerful lava flows make their way from the depths of the earth, while the mist of volcanic vapours disappears into the air. This silent but powerful force of nature is reflected in Alid - a fragrance that combines the calm and elegance of a dormant volcano with the fiery intensity of its origins.

Alid is an isolated, fragmented volcano in the Danakil depression in Eritrea with a height of 904 metres. Rhyolitic eruptions in the late Pleistocene ejected large quantities of ash. A rift valley measuring 2 kilometres by 3 kilometres cuts through the lava dome. Small cones and craters along north-north-west trending fissures show the origin of large lava flows. There is still fumarolic activity near the northern summit and flank.
