Behind the Fragrance
Experimental Perfume Club - IRIS CARMIN - Eau de Parfum
IRIS CARMIN by Experimental Perfume Club is a perfume created by combining the green and fruity notes of fig, neroli and cedarwood. This warm and golden fragrance combines orange blossom with the brightness of neroli and the greenness of fig leaves, contrasted by the earthiness of vetiver, cedarwood and orris root. Orange blossom absolute and neroli bring a fresh, luminous quality to the fragrance, reminiscent of sunny days and the sparkling sweetness of Hesperides gardens. These notes are known to impart an immediate cheerfulness and a touch of freshness. The addition of fig leaves adds a distinctive green note that enriches the fragrance with a vibrant dimension.
Orange blossom absolute and neroli are both fragrances derived from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium), but are produced using different extraction methods, resulting in different olfactory characteristics. Orange blossom absolute is obtained by solvent extraction. In this process, the orange blossoms are first immersed in a solvent, which draws the aromatic compounds out of the blossoms. The solvent is then removed, often by a method of washing with alcohol, which serves to extract the solvent and filter the absolute. The result is a highly concentrated, rich and long-lasting essence that captures the full depth and complexity of the orange blossom fragrance. Orange blossom absolute is known for its deep, sweet and floral character and is often used in perfumes to give them an opulent and sensual quality. Neroli, on the other hand, is obtained by steam distillation of freshly picked orange blossoms. In this process, steam is passed through the flowers, releasing the volatile components, which are then condensed to extract the essential oil. Neroli oil has a fresher, lighter and somewhat citrusy scent compared to the orange blossom absolute.
The use of vetiver complements IRIS CARMIN with a deep, earthy base that is both calming and complex. Vetiver is known for its rich, woody and sometimes smoky profile, which provides a firm base for the lighter notes. Vetiver is an exceptionally versatile and fascinating plant in the world of perfumery, known for its deep, earthy aroma. The essential oil is extracted from the roots of the vetiver grass (Vetiveria zizanioides), which grows mainly in tropical regions such as India, Haiti and Java. Vetiver oil is highly valued and popular due to its complex fragrance profile, which can include woody as well as smoky, sweet and sometimes even balsamic notes.
Cedarwood and absinthe further add to the depth of the fragrance with their woody and slightly bitter characteristics. Cedarwood provides a solid, calming presence that grounds the fragrance, while absinthe adds an intriguing bitterness and herbal freshness that lightens the overall profile. Iris root (or orris) adds an exquisite, powdery note that is often considered the centrepiece of luxury perfumes. This component brings a subtle, elegant sweetness and a slightly floral nuance that refines the fragrance and gives it a sophisticated depth.
IRIS CARMIN is thus an artfully balanced perfume that combines warmth and brightness with an earthy, rich base. It is designed for those seeking a fragrance that combines comfort and elegance with a natural, vibrant energy, offering an olfactory experience that is both soothing and inspiring.
