Behind the Fragrance
Jorum Studio - FIREWATER - Extrait de Parfum
A collection dedicated to Scottish culture and folklore would not be complete without an ode to whiskey. FIREWATER, the smoky cousin of Arborist, unfolds as a bold and powerful melody, where the balsamic whisper of charred whiskey barrels dances with the fresh chords of green fern. It is an eternal interplay between the deep aroma of peat, the noble character of wood, and the vibrant freshness of green. A perfume of enduring presence, it invites the wearer on a lengthy journey of discovery to its most hidden notes, a journey through time and memory, captured in the spirit of the Scottish Highlands.
FIREWATER is from the Scottish Odyssey Collection. Jorum Studio introduced the first fragrance in the Scottish Odyssey Collection in 2022. With these scents, Euan McCall explores Scottish folklore and cultural heritage.
The FIREWATER fragrance by JORUM STUDIO is described as smoky, woody and citrusy with a subtle sweetness. It evokes the experience of dancing around a smoky beach fire, with skin that smells of sticky citrus and smoke.
The fragrance is inspired by the Corryvreckan whirlpool on the Isle of Jura and is designed to capture the mood and feel of an evening around a bonfire. This vibrant and earthy composition combines smoky, marine and citrus elements to create an unforgettable olfactory experience.
The Corryvreckan whirlpool, also known as Scotland's Maelstrom, is located in the narrow strait between the islands of Jura and Scarba on the west coast of Scotland. This impressive whirlpool is the third largest in the world and is known for its strong tidal currents and standing waves. It forms at certain tides and is so powerful that the sound of the water can reportedly be heard up to ten miles away.
The Corryvreckan whirlpool is caused by an undersea rock needle that reaches 30 metres below the surface of the water. When the tidal currents hit this rock, the water is forced upwards, creating massive waves and whirlpools that provide a spectacular natural spectacle. The whirlpool is not only a geological wonder, but also deeply rooted in Scottish folklore.
There are numerous legends and myths surrounding the whirlpool that have been told by locals for generations. These stories add to the mystical atmosphere of the region and make it a favourite destination for adventurers and history buffs alike
