Behind the Fragrance

Jorum Studio TRIMEROUS Eau de Parfum

TRIMEROUS unfolds as a curiosity, a triptych of delicate veils enveloping the subtlest nuances of precious orris root. It's an ode to the exquisite orris butter of Florence, surrounded by a ballet of olfactory waves that showcase the individual facets of this revered root in a realm of dewy, crystallized, and silver-tinged woods. Rather than exploring every kaleidoscopic shade of the noble root, TRIMEROUS pays tribute to merely three often-overlooked slivers.

It celebrates the forgotten, the undertones, the discarded—the sparkling, the buttery, the uplifting. TRIMEROUS is not only an attempt to capture a mood and a process, but also to unfold the aromatic glory of the iris, an inherently infallible raw material. A ballad dedicated to the devoted, time-marked hand that, soiled and aged, yet unwaveringly strives for the rhizome.

The fragrance combines perfectly with Jorum Studio Carduus .

Jorum Studio fragrances are handcrafted in Scotland. TRIMEROUS is part of the Progressive Botany Vol. I collection, which has a strong connection to nature. Progressive Botany Vol. I explores natural phenomena and complements them olfactorily to create a vibrant and rich response.

Trimerous by Jorum Studio is an eau de parfum that celebrates the beauty and versatility of orris root. Created by Euan McCall, this perfume is known for its complex and multifaceted fragrance composition.

Trimerous combines the fresh and citrus notes of bergamot and nectarine with the earthy and floral notes of orris butter and angelica root. The fragrance develops into a rich, musky, and woody finish, rounded off by the warm and sweet notes of vanilla and ambergris.

Trimerous is described as an elegant and modern fragrance that highlights the delicate yet deep notes of orris root. It has a silvery freshness and a soft, powdery quality, making it a versatile and wearable perfume for a variety of occasions. The fragrance is often described as difficult to categorize, as it contains herbal, floral, and earthy elements.

The perfume aims to highlight the often overlooked aspects of orris root, capturing a mood and creative process. It is a tribute to the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into nurturing iris rhizomes. Trimerous demonstrates how the iris can be celebrated in a fragrance that is both timeless and modern. Iris butter, also known as orris butter, is a precious and luxurious fragrance derived from the root of the iris plant, specifically Iris germanica, Iris florentina, and Iris pallida. This fragrance is highly prized in perfumery and is known for its complex, powdery, and floral notes.

The rhizomes (underground stems) of the iris plant are harvested and dried for several years to concentrate their fragrances. After drying, the rhizomes are ground into a fine powder. The powder is then extracted by steam distillation to produce iris butter. This process can take up to five years, including the drying time, which explains the high price and rarity of the final product.

Iris butter is known for its rich and complex aroma, often described as powdery, floral, and earthy. It has a velvety texture and a slightly woody undertone that lends the perfume a special depth and elegance. The main components contributing to the unique fragrance profile of iris butter are irons, a group of molecules responsible for the characteristic violet scent.

Iris butter is often used in high-end perfumes to add depth and complexity. It is used as a heart note to accentuate the floral and powdery elements of the perfume and support the base notes. Perfumes containing iris butter are considered luxurious and elegant and are often found in niche perfumes and exclusive fragrance lines.

Two particularly interesting examples of perfumes containing iris butter are: "No. 19" by Chanel: A classic fragrance that highlights the powdery and earthy notes of the iris.
"Iris Poudre" by Frederic Malle: Another example that highlights the soft and floral aspects of the iris.
