Behind the Fragrance
Naomi Goodsir - CUIR VELOURS - Eau de Parfum
Naomi Goodsir's fragrance "CUIR VELOURS" introduces the imagery of a gloved woman's hand enveloped in the finest suede, exuding the softness and suppleness of precious velvet. The texture is both smooth and pliable, possessing a profound and sublime quality. The unexpected fusion of this leather essence with the rich flower spikes of immortelle, along with aromatic undertones of rum and tobacco, gives rise to a provocative character. The addition of golden honey transforms it into a palate-pleasing and sensually delightful fragrance. Amber and frankincense contribute to this warm and highly alluring olfactory experience, crafting the illusion of waxy-powdery lip notes that suddenly envelop the senses.
"CUIR VELOURS" by Naomi Goodsir stands as a complex and captivating perfume within the realm of oriental leather scents, crafted by the talented perfumer Julien Rasquinet. The tactile nature of the scent mimics the sensation of caressing the finest suede. The top notes of tobacco and rum produce a slightly sticky and warm touch on the skin, reminiscent of interacting with a gentle yet robust material. In the heart notes, the opulent and creamy accords of labdanum and immortelle impart a pleasingly soft texture akin to a silky caress.
Finally, the base notes of amber, incense and leather leave behind a sophisticated and velvety impression on the skin, evoking the feel of supple, luxurious fabric.
Overall, the tactile essence of the fragrance instills a sense of sensuality and comfort, guiding our senses on an alluring journey.
Julien Rasquinet emerges as a noteworthy perfumer with a unique entry into the fragrance world, sparked by a serendipitous encounter between his father and the master perfumer Pierre Bourdon at an airport. Despite lacking formal training in perfumery but fueled by a profound passion for scents, Rasquinet reached out to Bourdon, who graciously took him on as his final student. This fortuitous meeting marked the inception of Rasquinet's career as a perfumer, where he absorbed the art of scent creation from one of the industry's luminaries.
