Pana Dora is a Swedish company founded in 2019 by Syrian-Swedish perfumer Ibrahim Al-Zouabi, who immigrated from Syria in 1988 in search of the world's rarest aromas. Ibrahim was not just a perfumer, but a dreamer and historian of fragrances. Inspired by the legend of Odaenathus, King of the Kings of the East, he sought to capture the spirit of this ruler in a perfume.

DUX ORIENTIS opens with a vibrant blend of bergamot, cantaloupe, mandarin and tangelo, reflecting the golden sands of Palmyra. Exotic notes of seaweed, green nard and lychee unfold in the heart, while the base notes of ambroxan, musk and oud lend a warm, sensual depth.  The legacy of Odaenathus lives on in every spritz, a symbol that greatness is not just a goal but a state of mind, an eternal flame that burns in the hearts of dreamers and adventurers.

Odaenathus, also known as Septimius Odaenathus, was an important ruler and founder of the kingdom of Palmyra in the 3rd century A.D. He was a central figure in the Roman East and played an essential role in the resistance against the Sassanid Empire as well as in the stabilisation of the Roman provinces in the East. DUX ORIENTIS is more than just a fragrance: it is a journey through time and space that keeps the splendour of bygone eras alive.

The fragrance journey with DUX ORIENTIS begins with an invigorating blend of citrus fruits such as bergamot, mandarin, cantaloupe and tangelo. These fresh and sparkling notes give the fragrance an energetic and refreshing opening, reminiscent of the golden sands of Palmyra. At the heart of the fragrance, the exotic and intriguing notes of seaweed, green nard and lychee unfold. These components add a complex, green and slightly sweet depth to the fragrance, reminiscent of the mysterious and lush nature of the East. The base is dominated by warm, sensual notes, including ambroxan, musk and oud. These deep and luxurious flavours give the perfume a long-lasting and seductive foundation.

A tangelo is a citrus fruit that is a hybrid cross between a mandarin (Citrus reticulata) and a grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) or bitter orange (Citrus × aurantium). This cross combines the sweet and easy-to-peel nature of the mandarin with the juicy and sometimes slightly bitter flavour of the grapefruit.

The "green nard" refers to the scent of the spikenard plant, botanically known as Nardostachys jatamansi. This plant grows in the Himalayan regions of Nepal, China and India and produces an intensely aromatic, amber-coloured essential oil. This oil is valued for its warm, earthy and woody fragrance notes.
