The fragrance, curated by master perfumer Alberto Morillas at the behest of AEDES DE VENUSTAS founders Robert Gerstner and Karl Bradl, embodies Morillas' signature style of fluidity, transparency, and expressiveness. PALISSANDRE D'OR unfolds like a meticulously crafted piece of inlay work. Bright notes of ambrette, natural musk, rose, pear, and iris complement cool spice accents like pink pepper, coriander, and nutmeg.

The heart of the fragrance reveals the olfactory secret: rare sandalwood extract from Sri Lanka, imbued with subtle smokiness and a creamy allure. Copahu balm and silky patchouli extract add warmth, while ambroxan lends a captivating touch of sun-kissed skin. A trio of cedar woods—Virginia cedarwood for energy, Chinese cedarwood with hints of Lapsang Souchong tea for sophistication, and Alaskan cedar for a smoky, leathery note—provide structure and depth to the composition. Alberto Morillas is a master perfumer whose enduring passion for his craft has led to remarkable achievements. His remarkable journey is evident in the intricacy of his legendary creations. As the first perfumer in history to receive the Fragrance Foundation's prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, Alberto's collaborations with research chemists and profound understanding of perfume history enable him to blend innovative natural techniques with patented synthetic molecules, resulting in true works of art. Despite his vast expertise, Alberto remains humble, acknowledging that doubt is a constant companion in the creative process.

He compares crafting fragrances to composing sentences, emphasizing the importance of imbuing them with emotion. Born and raised in Seville, Alberto's childhood was steeped in sensory experiences. The scents of his parents' courtyard, the sea breeze, and the lush garden left indelible impressions on him, shaping his future path. Alberto fondly recalls a time when he juggled work and family commitments, even spending vacations in a phone booth to stay connected to important projects.

Despite his children's inherited olfactory talent, they chose different career paths. While Alberto's heart remains in Andalusia, his work has taken him to Geneva, where he immerses himself in his laboratory. He draws inspiration from his surroundings, believing that the environment plays a crucial role in crafting fragrances. An insatiable curiosity drives Alberto, who admits to sleeping little due to his relentless pursuit of inspiration. Whether wandering through his garden or embarking on adventures abroad, he finds solace in creativity.

"As a young man, he realized that behind every fragrance there is a designer," Alberto reflects.
