Behind the Fragrance

AEDES DE VENUSTAS PELARGONIUM presents an olfactory masterpiece that blends contemporary elegance with baroque grace, showcasing the splendor of the precious geranium, Pelargonium graveolens. Perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer skillfully captures the multifaceted nature of this flower in a sophisticated olfactory composition. Unlike the typical red geranium found in gardens, Pelargonium graveolens, known for its sweet aroma, takes center stage in this fragrance. Distilled from the leaves rather than the flowers, it earns the colloquial name "Rose Geranium" and offers one of perfumery's most volatile ingredients. Feisthauer's creation deviates from the fruity path often associated with geranium scents, instead highlighting its balsamic, incense-like qualities. The journey begins with vibrant iris notes enveloped in a clean cedar wood frame, further enriched by the depth of smoky Haiti vetiver, guaiac resin, and sensual moss. A touch of green cardamom and golden Calabrian bergamot adds freshness, while rich ingredients like herbaceous carrot seeds and clary sage provide complexity and contrast. Elemi resin, with its lemony, peppery, and incense-like nuances, and a hint of musk, add the final, gentle touch to the composition. The bottle design echoes the fragrance's sensual allure, featuring peacock blue accents on the fluted bottle and a matte black cap adorned with the brand's embossed insignia. It's an artistic and sophisticated masterpiece that seduces the senses with its softness and depth, transporting the wearer into a world of timeless beauty and fascination.

Fragrance notes of AEDES DE VENUSTAS PELARGONIUM include Egyptian geranium, iris, cedarwood, vetiver, guaiac wood, moss, green cardamom, carrot seeds, clary sage, elemi, and musk.

The perfumer behind Pelargonium: Nathalie Feisthauer

Nathalie Feisthauer's life as a perfumer is a captivating tale of passion, innovation, and artistic breakthroughs. Her journey into the world of fragrances began long before she could translate her thoughts into scents, driven by a profound love for perfumes. At just 16 years old, Nathalie created one of the era-defining fragrances, Opium, for the Yves Saint-Laurent collection. This remarkable achievement marked a pivotal moment in her life, igniting her desire to pursue a career as a perfumer. In 1983, Nathalie's passion and open-mindedness led her to break into the perfumery domain, which was then heavily influenced by family traditions. As the first intern without a perfumery family background, she joined the prestigious perfumery program at the Roure School in Grasse, now known as Givaudan, considered the pinnacle of perfumery education.

Her career took her to New York, where she immersed herself in the city's vibrant energy and creativity while working at Estée Lauder. This cosmopolitan experience broadened her artistic horizons and fueled her creativity. Over the years, Nathalie rose to prominence as a leading perfumer at major companies like Givaudan and Symrise, crafting fragrance compositions for both commercial and niche brands.

With over three decades of experience, Nathalie eventually embarked on her journey into independence. In Montmartre, Paris, she founded LABscent and established her own laboratory in a converted art gallery. Freedom, authenticity, and passion became her guiding principles as she continued to create innovative fragrances for exclusive international niche brands across the globe. Nathalie's creations have garnered numerous prestigious awards, including the FIFI Prize for Perfumer of the Year in 2019 and the Customer Choice - Niche Fragrance FIFI Award in 2021.

She remains a trailblazer in the perfume industry, constantly seeking new expressions and inspiring olfactory experiences. From renowned niche brands like Etat Libre d'Orange (Putain des Palaces) to iconic houses like Hermès (Eau des Merveilles) and Cartier (Must for Men), Nathalie has always enjoyed crafting fragrances for a diverse range of brands
