Behind the Fragrance

Carthusia - Io Capri - Eau de Parfum

IO CAPRI Eau de Parfum is dedicated to the divine being in honour of whom Emperor Tiberius had the most important of the imperial villas built on Capri.

IO CAPRI is a dynamic and decisive, refined and modern blend that combines the ripe and sweet notes of wild fig with the cheerful and stimulating notes of tea leaves. This combination creates a perfume that captures the essence of the island while exuding a touch of contemporary elegance. The sweet fruitiness of the wild fig paired with the fresh, slightly tart presence of tea creates a fragrance that is both invigorating and calming, combining the spirit of ancient myths with the vibrancy of the present. IO CAPRI is a fragrance that appeals to both men and women, enveloping them in the timeless beauty and elegance of Capri.

Emperor Tiberius, one of the Roman emperors, reigned from 14 A.D. until his death in 37 A.D. He is known for his reign and for spending the last years of his life on the island of Capri, where he had magnificent villas built. This decision to retire from Rome has given rise to much speculation and legend, and his villas on Capri remain a testament to his power and wealth to this day. Capri is home to numerous historical sites that bear witness to the island's long and varied history.

The Villa Jovis, the splendid residence of the Roman Emperor Tiberius, is enthroned on one of the highest points on the island and offers a spectacular view over the sea. The Villa San Michele, built by the Swedish doctor and writer Axel Munthe on the ruins of a Roman villa, is now a museum that takes visitors back in time. The island of Capri is also known for its lush vegetation and colourful gardens, which are blessed by the mild Mediterranean sun. The Gardens of Augustus, laid out on terraces overlooking the sea, are a prime example of the botanical diversity and creative art that can be found on CAPRI.
