The Faux Flora Discovery Set by FISCHERSUND is a unique collection of five handcrafted fragrances presented as part of their ‘Faux Flora’ exhibition. Each fragrance represents an imaginary plant and reflects different stages of the human life cycle: birth, childhood, adolescence, maturity and old age. This set offers a multi-sensory experience that blurs the boundaries between art and perfumery.

No. 1: This fragrance combines notes of porcelain, mountain milk, concrete, cotton, dust and saliva, resulting in a cool, clean and minimalist fragrance composition.

No. 1 from the Faux Flora Set by Fischersund starts with a cool impression. One thinks of stones and a very light and creamy milk. As this fragrance symbolises birth, it is also the lightest in the set. A fine skin scent, freshly washed and soothing. It is a fragrance that surrounds you very closely and does not create a loud cloud of scent.

No. 2: With elements such as brush, sugar rush, grass stains, growing pains, plasters and orange peel, this fragrance conveys a lively, green and slightly sweet freshness reminiscent of carefree childhood days.

No. 2 in the Faux Flora set is tangy and spicy. Citrus fruits in combination with green pepper notes. A little oil from the roots of vetiver grass and a little light wood. Together they create a balanced whole and complement each other wonderfully. After a short time, a light musky raspberry note joins in, which sweetens the overall impression somewhat. No. 2 symbolises childhood and gives the impression that there are no worries in the world.

No. 3: This fragrance contains notes of lipstick, leather shoes, cigarette smoke, mascara and spilled cocktails, suggesting a complex blend of leather, smoke and sweet accents that create a nostalgic and perhaps slightly animalic aura. No. 3 represents the stage of life of youth and as this is sometimes experienced, the fragrance is also a little more difficult to capture. A leather note combined with the smell of lipstick, topped off with a pinch of pepper. The fragrance is exciting and the image of a worn handbag appears before the inner eye.

Magnolan is a synthetic fragrance used in perfumery to create floral notes. It is characterised by a floral, green aroma reminiscent of magnolia, peony, geranium and lily of the valley. Magnolan is given a fresh, fruity component by nuances of grapefruit and lychee.  In perfumery, Magnolan lends more authenticity to natural floral fragrances and is often combined with citrus notes and transparent floral elements. No. 5: This fragrance combines the absorption of all light, dead bodies, ashes and black earth. The overall impression of number 5 from the FAUX FLORA DISCOVERY set by FISCHERSUND is deep and dark, somewhat smoky and conveys a very intense mood, perhaps even a little melancholy. The number 5 of the set stands for the phase of life of old age. Black Abyss.

I can sense the perfumer's intention. This fragrance feels incredibly dark and conveys a sense of loneliness, but in a way that remains beautiful. The scent itself is magical. The oud, smoke and leather emerge first, but there is also a damp feeling to it. I could imagine people who like slightly heavier fragrances liking this scent.

Indole is an organic compound that is perceived very differently depending on its concentration. In small quantities, it lends a sensual depth to floral fragrances such as jasmine, orange blossom and gardenia, while in high concentrations it develops an animalistic, almost unpleasant odour. Despite these extreme properties, indole is an indispensable component of many luxurious perfumes, as it lends floral notes a natural warmth and intensity. Classic perfumes in particular, such as Chanel No. 5, use indole in balanced quantities to create an unmistakable radiance.

Petrichor, on the other hand, describes the characteristic earthy fragrance that emerges after a rain shower on dry earth. The olfactory profile of Petrichor is warm, mossy and reminiscent of damp forest soil or wet stones. While indole and petrichor are at first glance opposing fragrances - one floral-animalic, the other earthy-fresh - they share the ability to lend perfumes a fascinating, natural authenticity.
