Fischersund

FISCHERSUND is a family-owned fragrance manufactory and artistic collective founded in Reykjavík, Iceland, in 2017. Siblings Jónsi, known as a member of the band Sigur Rós and self-taught perfumer, Lilja, Ingibjörg and Sigurrós and their partners Sindri and Kjartan are behind the project. Together they have created a place that combines handmade fragrances, customised music and visual art to create a holistic sensory experience;

Sigur Rós is an Icelandic post-rock band that was founded in Reykjavík in 1994. The current members are Jón Þór ‘Jónsi’ Birgisson on bass, Georg Hólm on guitar and Kjartan Sveinsson on keys. Known for their ethereal sound, Jónsi's falsetto voice and the use of guitars played with a bow, the band incorporates elements of classical and minimalism into their music. Their lyrics are written both in Icelandic and in a non-linguistic vocalisation they developed called Vonlenska (Hopelandic)

In 2025, Sigur Rós are planning a world tour where they will perform their latest album ‘Átta’ as well as classics from their repertoire together with orchestras. On the tour, they will perform in Asia, Australia and Europe and play in famous concert halls such as the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Sala Santa Cecilia in Rome. Sigur Rós' music is characterised by its ability to evoke intense emotional responses, whether through powerful post-rock intensity or soothing ambient sounds. With their innovative soundscapes, they have pushed the boundaries of the genre and gained a loyal fanbase around the world.

FISCHERSUND's main shop is located at Fischersund 3 in the centre of Reykjavík. The building has an eventful history and used to serve as a bakery, among other things. Today it is characterised by its unique atmosphere. Wooden beams from old ships and an old organ case, which now serves as a ‘perfume organ’ to present the fragrances.

FISCHERSUND's fragrances are inspired by the pure and unique nature of Iceland. They are handmade in Reykjavík and packaged sustainably. High-quality Icelandic oils and wild-collected herbs are used. A central concern of FISCHERSUND is the connection between music and scent. They explore the transience of smell and sound and their ability to trigger strong and immediate emotions. Each fragrance tells its own story through a harmonious composition of nostalgia, poetry and music.

In addition to perfumes, FISCHERSUND also offers scented candles, room sprays and other fragrance products, all of which capture the essence of the Icelandic landscape; FISCHERSUND is more than a perfumery, it is a place where art, music and scent merge into a unique experience, reflecting the creative energy of an entire family.
