Behind the Fragrance
Heeley - COLOGNE OFFICINALE - Eau de Parfum
COLOGNE OFFICINALE is an Eau de Parfum that eloquently captures the essence of the landscape unfolding along the azure Mediterranean. It artfully blends aromatic herbs like basil, rosemary, lavender and sage with dry woods, oak moss and oriental amber. This unique combination evokes the fusion of Provence with the lively spirit of the Orient, emblematic of Marseille's vibrant character.
The perfume COLOGNE OFFICINALE also features the distinctive note of "Savon de Marseille" or "Hammam", depending on one's interpretation. This note evokes sensations of physical well-being, absolute cleanliness and impeccable care, reminiscent of the classic colognes of the 70s, paying homage to contemporary life in Marseille. The inspiration behind this fragrance stems from the renowned photographer Olivier Amsellem, whose work is deeply intertwined with the fabric of contemporary Marseille through his fashion and design shop "Jogging".
Olivier Amsellem, born in Marseille in 1971 and now based in Paris, is celebrated for his photography, which adeptly captures the paradoxical essence of his hometown. His images reflect a blend of detachment and loyalty, love and animosity, seriousness and irony. Amsellem, a non-conformist exile yearning for his roots, presents an unvarnished portrait of Marseille – a city marked by the passage of time and the constant flux of its urban landscape.
His lens reveals the indelible imprint of human activity on the terrain, showcasing how the city has been continuously reshaped, demolished and rebuilt over time, leaving behind fleeting remnants of its past. Marseille, according to Amsellem, is both a dead end and a seaside sanctuary, where people seek solace in the sun, using tanning as a means to transcend their sense of isolation.
