Hamid Merati-Kashani is a veteran perfumer at Firmenich with an impressive career spanning more than three decades. Born in Germany and raised in Iran, he has a unique perspective on perfumery, shaped by the rich cultural influences of both countries. After the Iranian revolution, his family moved back to Germany, where Hamid was introduced to the world of fragrance. He began his career at Dragoco, one of Symrise's predecessor companies, where he trained as a perfumer. After twelve years, he moved to Firmenich, where he worked in Cologne and later in Brazil and Dubai. His work at Firmenich allowed him to further diversify and perfect his skills, particularly in the creation of niche fragrances known for their intensity and longevity.

Merati-Kashani has created a number of remarkable fragrances for well-known brands such as Carolina Herrera, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent and Michael Kors. Particularly noteworthy are his creations for Parfums de Marly, including Layton and its exclusive variant, as well as Percival. His fragrances are often powerful and long-lasting, which makes them unique in the perfume industry. Merati-Kashani is known for his passion and dedication to perfumery, which he sees as a form of artistic expression that deeply affects both the creator and the wearer of the fragrance.
