Behind the Fragrance
Parfums MDCI - LA BELLE HÉLÈNE - Eau de Parfum
Parfums MDCI - LA BELLE HÉLÈNE: A women's fragrance with fruity-floral notes that seamlessly blends elegance and playfulness, featuring a harmonious combination of pear, rose and osmanthus. The French equivalent of the internationally recognized Pear Helene is "Poire Belle Hélène". This scent immediately evokes thoughts of the delectable dessert it is named after, renowned for its irresistible aroma. Crafted by the skilled nose Bertrand Duchaufour, Helene centers around the exquisite osmanthus flower. Recognized for its distinct and pleasing fragrance, osmanthus is characterized by floral, fruity, sweet and slightly spicy notes. Warm and inviting, it carries hints of honey and peach, providing a delightful sweetness. The scent occasionally presents apricot-like or green tea nuances, ultimately embodying an elegant and captivating floral essence.
Duchaufour has artfully composed Helene, drawing inspiration from two light gourmand elements: the luscious green pear from the dessert and the apricot osmanthus essence. The fragrance boasts a rich array of ingredients, including pear, aldehydes, mandarin, osmanthus, lime blossom, rose, ylang-ylang, iris, hawthorn, plum, mirabelle plum, myrrh, vetiver, patchouli, cedarwood, amber, oakmoss, white musk, sandalwood and licorice. LA BELLE HÉLÈNE unfolds with the freshness of juicy, green pear, accompanied by a youthful apricot. As the scent evolves, the apricot transforms into a subtly sweet, dried note that complements the papery dryness of pear and the emergence of plum. The heart resonates with a delightful iris note, featuring velvety-powdery elements, complemented by rose water and an elegant leather note, courtesy of the dark and sensual osmanthus. Green and candied violets add playful touches, while the fragrance concludes with a warm, subtly oriental base: a hint of licorice on an amber bed of cotton musk, soft woody undertones and a chypre foundation.
Bertrand Duchaufour, the skilled perfumer behind the enticing pear, initiated his career in 1985 in Grasse, the epicenter of perfume production.
