Behind the Fragrance

Parfums MDCI - LE BARBIER DE TANGER - Eau de Parfum

Parfums MDCI - LE BARBIER DE TANGER by Anne-Sophie Behaghel.

LE BARBIER DE TANGER pays homage to the city of Tangier in Morocco and the art of traditional barbering. This fragrance offers an olfactory voyage through the narrow streets and exotic scents of Tangier, capturing a blend of freshness, spice and nostalgia. It transports one back to the 1950s or even earlier, evoking the ambiance of old, traditional barbershops. The fragrance is named after a vanished fern in Tangier, lending its essence to a green, clean and fresh fern that exudes a retro "old style" vibe. Yet, with its sophisticated and subtle composition, it embodies a modern freshness and elegance, making it the ideal choice for a revitalizing start to the day.

Tangier, located in northern Morocco on the Strait of Gibraltar, holds a rich historical significance as a trading city and cultural hub. From its origins as a Phoenician colony to being under the control of various powers like the Romans, Vandals, Byzantines, Arabs, Portuguese, Spanish and British, Tangier has been shaped by diverse influences. The city's strategic location as a port has fostered a cosmopolitan atmosphere and facilitated trade between Europe and Africa.

Today, Tangier stands as a vital economic center with a bustling port, thriving industry and draws tourists with its captivating history, stunning architecture, beautiful beaches and vibrant culture. Throughout history, Tangier has attracted artists, writers and intellectuals, making it a meeting point for the "Lost Generation" in the 1920s and 1930s.

LE BARBIER DE TANGER  by Parfums MDCI captures the essence of Tangier with its fresh, aromatic notes of citrus, mint, spices and woody accents. Known for their high quality and complex composition, the fragrances of Parfums MDCI, including this creation by Anne-Sophie Behaghel, have the power to evoke emotions and memories.

Anne-Sophie, a perfumer and business developer at Flair Paris, brings her passion for perfume, gained during her training at Cinquième Sens, to her creations, often described as delicate, subtle and poetic. Her commitment to valuing and respecting natural resources is evident in her work.
