Behind the Fragrance
Parfums MDCI - BLEU SATIN - Eau de Parfum
BLEU SATIN is an elegant and sophisticated fragrance that captures the cool elegance and timeless beauty associated with satin. This scent is described as fresh, spicy and sensual, inviting the wearer to indulge in the luxurious world of blue satin. The fragrance notes of BLEU SATIN may vary, but typically include fresh citrus notes, spicy accents and a warm base of woody notes and musk. The result is an elegant and complex scent that strikes a delicate balance between subtlety and captivation. The fragrance is enriched with the scent of watermelon, providing fruity-aquatic accents reminiscent of the Blue Boy's portrayal. Cassis, a dark fruit berry with a fresh, sour and tart aroma, contributes to the juicy and vibrant character of the fragrance. Additionally, citrus notes add brightness, while a surrounding greenness, subtle like grass, occasionally velvety-salty like vetiver and saffron, further enhance the olfactory experience. The subtle and clever use of leather notes adds a layer of sophistication to the composition, subtly hinted at in the background and accompanied by the creamy purity of jasmine.
BLEU SATIN is described as youthful, dynamic, smart and elegant, embodying a carefree or slumbering innocence that aligns with the message of Thomas Gainsborough's painting "The Blue Boy". This fragrance is the first inspired by the renowned artist's masterpiece, created in 1769/70. Thomas Gainsborough, a prominent English artist of the 18th century, was known for his contributions to landscape and portrait painting. BLEU SATIN captures the essence of the painting, offering wearers a sensorial journey into the world depicted by Gainsborough's iconic work. Wikipedia sums it up aptly:
In his portraits, Gainsborough preferred sensitivity and casualness to depiction over artificial, stiff representation, which is why he had his figures posed against a landscape background not in the studio, but in the great outdoors. Gainsborough's fascination with fabrics and fashionable clothing can also be seen in these portraits. The artist turned against strict academicism early on and tried to portray the idealization of motifs that was propagated at the time in a more subtle way in his paintings. For Gainsborough, this could only be achieved through sensitivity, that is, the viewer should not only, as was common practice at the time, grasp an image with his acquired knowledge of the ideal subjects depicted, but also connect personally with the image.”
