Tolu balsam, or Balsamum tolutanum, is an aromatic resin extracted from the Toluifera tree native to Central and South America. The resin is collected from the tree, then distilled to extract its essential oil. Tolu balsam exudes a sweet, warm and balsamic fragrance with hints of vanilla, almond and cinnamon. Often used as a base note in perfumery, it imparts a rich, warm and subtly sweet character to fragrances.
