The selection of raw materials for this collection mirrors the essence of citrus offerings in Capua. Capua, nestled in southern Italy, has been a hub for citrus essential oil production, known as Hesperides, since 1880. Gian Luca Perris was captivated by Capua's fusion of cutting-edge technologies and traditional extraction methods. Notably, this blend of tradition and innovation ensures the elimination of toxic furocoumarins, which may cause skin irritations. Furocoumarins are photosensitive molecules. By cooling the essential oil to 2020°C during the molecular evaporation process, the furocoumarins are neutralized without altering the fragrance's integrity. Furthermore, Perris Monte Carlo meticulously sources raw materials solely from certified suppliers committed to avoiding phthalates, also known as plasticizers, during production. This dedication ensures that the Eau de Parfums not only boast exceptional beauty but are also entirely benign.

“Many of you know Jean-Claude Ellena from his masterpieces such as Van Cleef & Arpels First, Cartier Déclaration, Bulgari Thé Vert, Hermès Terre de Hermès and Jardin sur le Nil. However, not everyone knows his whole story. As a child, he helped his grandmother harvest jasmine and roses in Grasse and later began working in the factories producing essential oils and absolutes. Eventually he became a master of the art of perfume composition. Jean-Claude Ellena experienced first-hand all the elements that have made Grasse a cultural heritage of humanity. He calls himself a “fragrance writer,” and I love calling him the perfume poet. It is a privilege to work with him on this project.”
