Gian Luca Perris, the perfumer behind ENCENS SACRÉ, wanted to capture the essence of incense in its purest form while creating a modern interpretation of this classic ingredient. ENCENS SACRÉ was born from the pursuit of a perfect balance between two types of incense: the essence obtained by distillation, with its sweet, mineral and balsamic notes, and the essence obtained by pyrolysis, which gives the authentic impression of burning incense. This duality is harmoniously complemented by a floral heart of Moroccan rose and jasmine and a warm base of amber, patchouli and sandalwood.

ENCENS SACRÉ by Perris Monte Carlo is a fragrance that takes the senses on a fascinating journey. The fragrance begins with an intense top note of Somali incense. This note is not only sweet, but also mineral and balsamic, giving the fragrance an immediate, striking character. The incense is reminiscent of ancient rituals and sacred ceremonies, creating a deep spiritual connection. At the heart of the fragrance, the floral notes of Moroccan rose and jasmine unfold. Incense, one of the oldest essences known to mankind, has played an important role in religious and spiritual rituals for thousands of years. In early civilisations, incense was burned as a sacred offering to carry dreams and prayers to the gods. The essence of frankincense is extracted from the resin of the Boswellia carterii tree, with the best quality coming from Somalia. The harvest period lasts from November to February. During this time, the bark of the trees is incised to allow the resin to drip off. After a few days, the resin hardens and forms gum, which is then ready for the extraction of essential oil.

ENCENS SACRÉ by Perris Monte Carlo is the result of a study of one of the fundamental raw materials in the history of perfumery: frankincense. This exceptional ingredient is presented here in two fragrance profiles, one obtained by distillation and the other by pyrolysis. I wanted to emphasise the deepest, most intimate and sacred aspects of this legendary raw material.’ Gian Luca Perris.
