Liis is a modern niche perfume brand offering a collection of lightweight, effortlessly wearable Eau de Parfums for everyday use. Created in collaboration with renowned contemporary perfumer Jérôme Epinette, the scents in the collection feature high-quality, clean ingredients sourced from around the world.

Founders Alissa Sullivan and Leslie Hendin share a background rooted in Marin County, located in the Bay Area of California. Despite growing up just minutes apart, they didn't cross paths until they both relocated to London as adults.

Their mutual fascination with perfumes, collected in tiny boxes, sparked a shared obsession with the jewel-like quality and transformative nature of fragrances. Liis is the embodiment of this shared passion, brought to life through their collaboration. The fragrances are proudly made in California, reflecting the brand's commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

All fragrances in the LIIS collection were created by Jérôme Epinette. Jérôme Epinette, a highly regarded perfumer hailing from France, has solidified his reputation through close collaborations with esteemed fragrance brands such as Byredo, Atelier Cologne, Frapin and Olfactive Studio. Renowned for his remarkable creations, some of the best fragrances in the Byredo collection bear his signature.

Originally from Burgundy, a renowned wine region in France, Epinette developed a fascination with the intricacies of winemaking from an early age. However, his interest in the world of perfumery spurred him to pursue a career in scent creation.

After earning a degree in biochemistry from the University of Burgundy in Dijon, Epinette honed his craft at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery in Grasse, the perfume capital of the world. In 2003, he joined the Paris office of Robertet, a leading fragrance and flavor company and played a pivotal role in establishing the New York creative center in 2006. Presently, he is based in New York City.

Epinette's mastery lies in his adept use of exceptional natural ingredients, seamlessly blended with the finest synthetic materials to craft unique and captivating fragrances. He has crafted numerous best-selling and critically acclaimed perfumes for a diverse array of brands, from mainstream giants like Victoria's Secret and L'Occitane en Provence to niche players such as Atelier Cologne and Luckyscent's Decennial line.

Epinette's unparalleled talent has made him one of the most sought-after perfumers in the industry, with several fragrance brands seeking his expertise to create their signature scents. Recently, he showcased his skills at the emerging fragrance house, Floral Street, where he collaborated on the creation of the Electric Rhubarb scent in conjunction with the Chelsea Flower Show.

Epinette's approach to fragrance creation is characterized by meticulous attention to detail, utilizing mood boards and demonstrating a keen sensitivity to how fragrances evolve on the skin. His distinctive style often features a skillful interplay of patchouli and sandalwood, lending his creations a unique olfactory allure.

With extensive careers in the beauty and fragrance industry – Alissa honing her craft with L’Artisan Parfumeur, Penhaligon’s and Hourglass, while Leslie led creative endeavors for brands like Vintner’s Daughter – Liis represents the culmination of their shared passion and dedication, marking a new chapter in their journey after years of meticulous development.

Alissa Sullivan was raised in Mill Valley, California, with a unique cultural background – her mother being French and her father American. Spending a significant portion of her childhood in France, Alissa developed an early fascination with niche beauty. Her journey into the world of fragrance began when a family friend, employed at Dior in Paris, introduced her to her first perfume. Alissa's sister, Anouck, also shares her passion for beauty as a makeup artist. While pursuing dermatology studies at UC Berkeley, Alissa's fondness for formulation grew, eventually leading her to attend the esteemed ISIPCA in Versailles. Currently residing in LA, Alissa's interests extend to vintage design, global exploration and the wonders of nature.

Leslie Hendin, hailing from San Anselmo, California, was raised by a mother who worked in advertising and a father who was a painter. Her upbringing encouraged exploration of various creative outlets, fostering an appreciation for the intersection of art and commerce. This passion led her to delve into the significance of visual language, which she explored in her master's thesis at Central Saint Martins. Presently residing in San Francisco, Leslie enjoys hobbies such as pottery, outdoor activities, and cherishing moments with her husband and young son, Arrow. For Leslie, scent serves as a medium for creative expression and communication.
