Behind the Fragrance
D.S. & Durga - ITALIAN CITRUS - Eau de Parfum
D.S. & DURGA Italian Citrus / A bracing cologne of coastal Italian citrus
A refreshing cologne composed of coastal Italian citrus fruits – Chinotto, Blood Orange, cold-pressed Lemon, and Green Mandarin, enriched with Ambrette seeds and pure Musk. There are numerous variations of cologne. The original recipes from Italy, France, Germany, and Hungary typically incorporate a blend of citrus fruits (lemon, bergamot, etc.), herbs (lavender, rosemary), and neroli (orange blossom distillate). The scent is unmistakable.
Most classic colognes are extremely pleasant and are worn daily for their refreshing post-shower scent. However, they tend not to last long. "Eau de Cologne" technically refers to the low concentration of fragrance oil in the final product. Traditionally, they are not designed for long-lasting effect.
D.S. & Durga - ITALIAN CITRUS varies the formula in a refined manner to create a fresh citrus scent that lingers into the dry-down. Overall, Italian Citrus is opulent and long-lasting. The citrus palette is broad. We utilize five distinct coastal Italian citrus fruits in a balanced blend to create a radiant opening. This includes the quintessential Italian Bergamot, brightened by the fresh, yellow Amalfi Lemon, the oceanic red Mandarin distillate (with its unique shell note), the sweet red Blood Orange, and the bitter Chinotto peel.
This accord is one that I wish to maintain down to the base. Instead of the herbs found in classic colognes, we use Violet Ionone to enhance the sweetness. In the base, the liquid crystal scent of Copaiba Balsam, a white resin from South America, combines with Frankincense Absolute and Oakmoss. This imparts a lingering hint of citrus. Copaiba for the fresh, peppery Bergamot, Frankincense for the orange-lemon notes, and Oakmoss for the green nuance.
The Italian coast is renowned not only for its citrus fruits but also for its carefree atmosphere, which humbles all who behold it. Endless roads wind and climb above the shimmering Mediterranean. Secret spots are abundant. Food, conversation, relaxation. Old classic cars. White suits. Colorful ties and dresses. Beautiful people. It's always lovely to spray something and reminisce about places where life shines brightest.
