Clearwood® marks a turning point in perfumery, being the first fragrance ingredient to be developed using white biotechnology. It is a contemporary alternative to traditional patchouli and was created in California for Firmenich. This innovative and sustainable material is derived from the fermentation of sugar cane, providing an environmentally friendly option for fragrance creation. Clearwood® heralds a new era in perfumery, blurring the lines between natural and artificial.

The fragrance: Glam Wood HOLY_WOOD, created by master perfumer Frank Voelkl, is an homage to 1970s California, celebrating both the spiritual awakening of the New Age era and the creative heyday of the New Hollywood film movement. Inspired by the technological innovations of the time, which allowed young directors such as Scorsese and Altman to redefine American cinematography, Voelkl uses advanced materials to create a contemporary version of the decade's signature scent. In HOLY_WOOD, the traditional patchouli is replaced by the ethereal Clearwood®, freeing it from its "musty" facets. An airy interpretation and translation of the floral scent, called Rose Petal Nature Print®, brings freshness and vitality to the classic note. The fragrance is enhanced by sparkling Pink Pepper SFE and the presence of Bulgarian Rose and Jasmine Sambac, for a touch of Golden Age Hollywood glamour. The interplay of mystical sandalwood and luxurious wild leather rounds off the fragrance, inviting the wearer to let themselves be carried away by the ethereal composition.

"Pink Pepper SFE" refers to pink peppercorns that have been treated using a special extraction process called "Supercritical Fluid Extraction" (SFE). This process uses supercritical fluids, usually carbon dioxide, to extract flavours and other ingredients from plant material. The SFE process is particularly efficient and environmentally friendly, as it does not use harmful solvents and produces pure, high-quality extracts. Pink Pepper extracted by SFE retains an intense and clear aroma.
