CUMBAWA WOOD is an extrait de parfum by Sensatio Paris that captures the unique freshness and subtle bitterness of combava (also known as kaffir lime). The fragrance CUMBAWA WOOD is inspired by the creative use of this citrus fruit by Sacha Perrin, one of the founders of Sensatio Paris and a renowned chef
The kaffir lime contained in CUMBAWA WOOD has a subtle bitterness and acidity. Its peel is often used in the kitchen to flavour and enhance the taste of a variety of sweet and savoury dishes. The inspiration for this fragrance comes from Sacha's ingenious use of kaffir lime in his culinary creations, which emphasises the unique aspect of this citrus fruit. This fresh and mysterious fragrance reveals citrus and tangy notes and captivates with its intensity and longevity.
Kaffir limes (also known as kaffir limes or combava) are a special type of citrus fruit that is particularly well known in Southeast Asian cuisine. They originate from tropical regions such as Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia and are valued for both their fruit and their flavoursome leaves.
The fruit is small (2-5 cm in diameter) and has a characteristic wrinkled, thick, green to yellowish skin. The peel is very aromatic and is often used grated or chopped as an ingredient in curries, pastes and sauces. The juice of the kaffir lime is intensely sour and has a slightly bitter flavour. The main flavour comes from the peel and leaves, which contain essential oils such as limonene and citronella.
The ‘NOSE’ of the fragrance CUMBAWA WOOD by Sensatio Paris is Serge De Oliveira. He is a French perfumer known for his expertise in creating natural fragrances. He began his career in 2002 as an assistant at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), where he developed a passion for raw materials, particularly woody notes such as vetiver and patchouli.
He later moved to Robertet in Grasse, a leading natural fragrance company, where he was appointed perfumer in 2013. There he worked both in fine perfumery and in the development of functional fragrances. Since 2019, he has been working in Robertet's Paris office.
De Oliveira has created numerous fragrances for various brands, including 100Bon, Ormaie, Nolença and Ultra Doux. His work is characterised by the use of natural ingredients, often collaborating with labels such as Cosmos Organic, which set strict criteria for natural perfumes.
CUMBAWA WOOD combines the vibrant freshness of citrus fruits with the calming and grounding properties of woody notes. It is a tribute to nature and combines Southeast Asian flavours with French perfume artistry.
The flacon design of CUMBAWA WOOD reflects the philosophy of Sensatio Paris: a subtle blend of simplicity and elegance. The clean lines and natural colour of the packaging are a nod to kaffir lime and wood, the central elements of the fragrance.
CUMBAWA WOOD is a sensual invitation to re-experience the connection between cuisine and perfumery - a fragrance journey that awakens the senses and brings exotic adventures to life.
