Fragrance as an expression of the soul – uncompromising, spiritual, deeply personal
Not every perfume is made to please.
Some are made to awaken. Some to challenge. Some to touch the soul.
Filippo Sorcinelli is not a traditional perfumer. He is an artist who uses fragrance as a medium – a translator of the invisible, the sacred, the emotional. His creations are not just scents. They are spiritual experiences, artistic statements, intimate confessions.
The artist behind the fragrance
Born in 1975 in Mondolfo, Italy, Filippo Sorcinelli began his journey through art and music. He studied Fine Arts in Fano and later attended the prestigious Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro to study organ performance. He completed further specialization at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome. At just 13 years old, he was already playing the organ in cathedrals across Italy.
This unique duality – between artistic sensibility and liturgical solemnity – would go on to define his creative universe.
LAVS – Sacred vestments as wearable devotion
In 2001, Sorcinelli founded LAVS – Laboratorio Atelier Vesti Sacre – a couture atelier for sacred vestments. LAVS quickly gained recognition for crafting ecclesiastical garments of exceptional beauty and meaning. His atelier has designed garments worn by Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis, including the vestments for Pope Francis’ inaugural Mass in 2013.
LAVS is where spirituality meets artistic excellence – and where scent first found its sacred form.
UNUM – Where fragrance becomes sacred ritual
In 2014, Sorcinelli launched UNUM, his first perfume collection. Originally, he created a fragrance to scent the liturgical vestments of LAVS. The result, LAVS Extrait de Parfum, became an iconic fragrance: smoky, resinous, sacred – and the beginning of a deeply personal olfactory journey.
Each UNUM fragrance is a mirror of the soul, fusing ancient ritual with contemporary emotion. From Ennui Noir to Symphonie-Passion, these creations are fragments of memory, spirit, and longing – composed with rare materials and profound silence.
SAUF – The scent of sacred music
As a classically trained organist, Sorcinelli also bridges music and scent with SAUF – a line inspired by the tonal landscapes of pipe organs and cathedrals. These perfumes resonate like chords: deep, metallic, meditative. They are not only worn – they are felt in the bones.
A total art experience
For Filippo Sorcinelli, perfumery is never isolated. It exists in dialogue with visual art, music, and fashion. His atelier produces not only fragrances, but also bespoke photography books, sacred sculptures, artistic installations, and hand-designed vestments.
To wear a Filippo Sorcinelli perfume is to wear a concept – to become part of a metaphysical narrative.
