Behind the Fragrance
Filippo Sorcinelli - UNUM - LASCIA CH´IO PIANGA - Extrait de Parfum
"Lascia ch'io pianga" is one of the most famous arias by George Frideric Handel. He composed it in 1705, but it only became famous when it was performed as a song in his opera Rinaldo, which premiered in London in 1711. Today it is one of the most popular melodies in classical music. Good things are images that disappear from our minds. They are parts of us that get lost in the forest of habits.
But the pain remains, describing what cannot be chosen. Maybe I do not want to forget, maybe it will not happen, I want to feel differently. Just free. I remember to cry because it is stronger than forgetting. But going is sweeter than staying. I do not want to live in fear of what comes from the darkness or what I have left behind. I am who I wanted to be, even if it was not I who spoke. It was tears to the moon, always rising like a prayer, that shaped my destiny. Proudly, I sigh, a single leap into the drama, not to let go of the emotions. So I follow my smaragd-green path, wherever it takes me.
It is a promise to myself, to each other, an oath, a cry, a sincerity, a brave hymn. I believe strongly and I never forget. Filippo Sorcinelli's eleventh fragrance celebrates the race for freedom. The initial emotional spark of this new project is still the notes, as the decoration on the bottle shows: It is the music that moves, that rises like tears to create the desire for freedom: the aria from Handel's Rinaldo "Lascia ch'io pianga".
In reality, this is only the genesis, as the project evolves and opens up a much more nuanced path: the concept of conquering a precious gift that every human being possesses and that today, more than ever, represents a fundamental value. Filippo Sorcinelli wants to recount his human and artistic journey through the difficult conquest of this "absolute", far from the multiple slavery of fashion, advertising and prejudices.
The fragrance is like a large bouquet of richly scented flowers, sweet and narcotic. Jasmine, tuberose and ylang-ylang vie for the top spot. Sometimes they wrap themselves in a green freshness, and if they have enough time, they appear in a softer version.
